    foul urine smell

Hi...I have already posted this question and did get a reply, but I can't find it. I'm not too swift with computers! haha

All winter my dog urinated under our carport in a sheltered area in the sand. Now that is is warm out the smell of ammonia hits you in the face when you are walking into the house. Not nice, when you are having visitors.

I got a reply that said put vinegar on the sand and that would neutralize the odour. Help! Now, as my kids say, it just smells like someone peed on some french fries! haha The smell is still there and the vinegar smell on top of it is just unimaginable!

It was I who said to put vinegar.. You may have to put more vinegar on the sand. If it was foul before and now it smells like someone peed on french fries, that must be better. lol vinegar neutralizes any odor urine cooking anything.

How much sand are you talking about? How large of an area is it? Did the dog pee in one spot, or all over it?

    Hi Sarah

It is a very small area maybe about 20 feet along side of the house and 2feet wide and she has peed all over. I put 1/2 of a big jug of vinegar and soaked in and raked it. It isn't deep at all maybe 2 inches. The smell of vinegar is just as bad as the smell of the pee (however can stand the vinegar smell better haha) The urine smell is as strong as ever. Both smells hit you in the face at that side of the house.

put half the vinegar jar of water into the sand and rake it through as well. Let me know if it gets better.
