Everted Third Eyelid HELP!
Hi we just got our great addition to our family a cute Boston Terrier puppy and he already won all of our hearts, he is a great dog. Two nights ago I found his eye was red and swollen, so I took him to the vet yesterday and they said he has Everted Third Eyelid, that he needs surgery and that that was a breed problem, does anyone know anything about it? Does it really need surgery? Is there another holistic approach to this?
Any comment or help will be very welcome!
Thanks!

It will need surgery to be repaired, but it is not life threatening . This is a link to information on the problem . It is also called Cherry eye Let your breeder know what is going on and see what they say .

I have heard of this and just now went on a search on Google. I would not rush into the surgery as yet and even maybe get a second opinion, do some research first. Good Luck, I know that has to be devastating with a new puppy.

Thanks a lot for your replays, I've been goggling but doesn't seem to promising every thing talks about surgery. The antinflamatory drops don't seem to do anything at all. I am so worried about him. I called the breeder and she seems not to have a clue, about it. Thanks a lot! I wish I could find a herb or something natural...

It can be treated only to help with the irritation The surgery dosen't need to be done immedialtely Check with the State or City where the breeder is and see if they have a puppy lemon law In CA a breeder, pet shop or seller (of over 2 litters per year or 20 sales ) must stand behind their puppies for congenital or hereditary problem for one year and for 15 days against incubating viruses They must replace the puppy, take the puppy back give you your money back or
if you choose to keep the puppy pay up to 1 and 1/2 times the price of the puppy in Vet bills You have to have your Vet state that the puppy is sick or was unfit for sale and why The breeder / seller can get a second opinion Otherwise if they will not help you and there is no lemon law then check to see if there is a Veternary college near you they might do it for less money You can also apply for grants. If the breeder wilo not help you and you put the puppy on a chare card contact your credit card company and make a complaint
