    Cool Schnauzer beard

Is it true that if you put a little piece of copper pipe in the water bowl,, it stops the staining of a white
    beard.?????

I have not heard of the copper pipe trick, but a breeder suggested a cap full of either selser, club soda or tonic water on their food at each feeding works. I am just not sure which one because I heard this second hand. Now I am trying to find out which to try! I also wonder if a penny could substitute the pipe for the remedy of copper. It seems as though it would. Oh! My Hank is a miniature schnauzer with terrible beard stain. Let's keep working on this!

Do not put copper in the water it could poison him. If you are feeding wet food (canned meat) try using dry food. The bacteria from the food in the beard could cause some of the stainng also daily washing of the beard . The show people use white chalk in the beard. Make sure his teeth are ingood shape. Saliva is what causes most of thestaining . If you dog licks his feet you will notice it
    will turn pinkish also

I had a Schnauzer once, and I was told that after every meal, you wash their face, to get the food out of the beard. There is a section here under grooming that speaks about "tear staining", which would work also on the Schnauzer's beard.
