    Whats wrong with my dog???

Can anyone help me???.....my 8 month old Bichon Frise has just come out of her first season, and her private bits are still swollen and are red and raw where she has been licking and biting herself...she has also biten out her fur on her back legs and a big clump out of her side. Vet is not sure what is wrong with her, currently she is on steriods and antibotics, but this does not seem to be helping. If anyone could shed any light on this problem i would be most grateful.

Did the Vet recommend a lotion or creme to apply directly? I suggest you maybe put an E-Collar on her to keep her from licking and biting herself...until she is completly healed.

Oh Gosh your poor little puppy is suffering. What food is she on? I would do what MaryAnn suggested with the e-collar and get a Holistic food like Blue Buffalo, lamb and brown rice.
    Good Luck, Keep us posted.

    hello theresa!

I would suggest that you consult with other vets about your dog's condition. There may be other vets that have encountered those types of conditions.

I do hope your dog recovers well.

Also, have you tried any of these methods below?

An oatmeal shampoo with cool water will ease the itchiest skin. Leave the shampoo on for 10 minutes and rinse well. Bathing your pet pet twice weekly, may also help her to feel better.

I will pray that she heals quickly.

Have you checked her dog food Theresa ? There is such a thing as gluten sensitivity, I suggest that you feed your dog a gluten free diet and see how it goes.

Also, I agree with Jude and Mary Ann, consult different vets about your dogs condition. Other vets have better exposure and experience than others and an oatmeal

bath can really help soothe the itching.

I will also pray for your baby's quick recovery.
