There are a lot of vets who are 'afraid" of Rottweilers and believe the hype about them being an aggressive type breed, instead of blaming the owner for not being the Alpha. Grant it, there are some backyard breeders who will breed the same male and female over and over and they get a dog less perfect, but doable.
I honestly believe your vet is one who believes in the hype. Is it possible that you can find another vet who adores this breed? That would be much better for you. Your trainer is an excellent source of information since he actually trains them and know how stubborn they can be.
The Rotties my trainer would get were not from breeders. We would save them from being put down and retrain them for service protection instead. Kinda like give them a job that is a benefit. So my 2 Rotts werent' really pets, they were working dogs. Whereas Buddy my 3rd Rottie was different in that I saved him from being put down, because the cops picked him up from an abusive situation. I got Buddie at 1 years old. He was a beautiful dog, loving heart and a willing mind to learn..
When I move back to the country,. I am really wanting to start a no kill forever home for Rotties, and other breeds as well. But Rotties are misunderstood, and need a lot of help just to live.

I am looking for another vet
I really don't like this one
He doesn't have any interaction with the animals and he's kind of rude to people too
He's close and therefore OK for needles etc.
If I decide to get my guy's hips checked so that I can breed him I won't go to this guy
I really don't think he knows what he is doing
Unfortunately any vets that have been recommended are more than an hour drive away
My breeder's vet is a Rottie fan and has performed the hip check many times with Rotties
I might go to him for that
My breeder is one of those people who can't let a dog be put down
When I last spoke to him (almost 2 weeks ago) he had just got a Rottie who was going to be put down because he bites
The day before I saw him he had spent the whole day building a kennel outside for the dog because he didn't have any available space for him
Even though we have had an amazing spring, that day it happened to snow
His intention is to correct the problem and then find the dog a home, but I wouldn't be surprised if he keeps him
One time when I went to visit my puppy before she was ready to come home there was a new little dog in their house
Not a young Rottie but a full grown small dog
The dog's former owner was going to put it down because someone in the family had allergies
It's great to find a breeder who is a real dog lover not just in it for money

That's what I want to do Gail is have a shelter and save Rotties, or other dogs from being put down. Maybe you can give me the breeders name and how to contact him/her and I can get my Rottie from there, when I get ready. I would love that if you could.
Talking to Gail really helps me to get in the place of getting another one real soon. I really appreciate it. Thank you very much,..

I have no problem giving you my breeder's contact information
I certainly would recommend them
The only thing is that I am in Ontario and you are in Manitoba
There are probably breeders closer to you, which would make things a lot simpler

I would really appreciate it Gail, and it doesn't matter that the breeder is in Ontario. I was thinking of going to the States to get another Rottie.
I am forever grateful Gail if you would give me the information. Thanks heaps.

Rottweiler Property Laws
If I like it, IT'S MINE
If it's in my mouth, IT'S MINE
If I can take it from you, IT'S MINE
If I had it a little while ago, IT'S MINE
If it is mine it must never appear to be yours in any way
If I'm chewing something all the pieces ARE MINE
If it looks just like mine, IT'S MINE
If I saw it first, IT'S MINE
If you are playing with some thing and you put it down, it automatically becomes MINE
If it is broken, IT'S YOURS
