puppy crying
we just adopted a 7 week old puppy but he hasn't stopped crying for a hole day! he doesn't seem to want to be left on the floor he always wants us to pick him up and when we do he stops crying. is there anything we can do? we don't want the dog to get used to sleeping on our laps but he hasn't stopped crying since this morning! is it normal for a puppy's first day?

I guess that the biggest question to start with is what kind of a background did your puppy have for the first 7 weeks. Did he have a lot of play-mates? Are there strange smells in your house or strange sounds in the neighborhood? Is your household high energy? And of course what kind of puppy is he? That is where I would start. Although I love holding my puppy all day in fact I hear toe-nails on hard surface coming this way. Good luck and please keep us posted on your findings.

Your puppy is feeling insecure. This is the first time without his mother, or siblings. I don't think there is anything wrong with holding the dog. But I would certainly encourage puppy play on the floor as well. Did you have the opportunity of seeing the puppy play with his mother or siblings? Was he alone, away from the others. It could be also that you chose a puppy that will need to be nurtured more, to build up his confidence..
Let us know how it's going....

All puppies under 12 weeks of age will cry or the first few days At 7 weeks he is barely weaned if at all Most breeders won't let puppies go to their new home
until 10 to 12 weeks of age. It last longer and is worse if you go to him everytime he crys. The puppy is scared and lonely Give him soft toys in his area
to cuddle up to. If he is crying try to ignore him When he is quiet go to him and praise the behavior I would also take him to a Vet for a checkup. Bring a fresh
stool sample and start his shots. If your breeder did not provide or recommend a puppy food , I recommend Eukanuba puppy. My puppy stool are always irm on
that diet unless the ate something the shouldn't have or someting healthwise is going down such as the need to reworm or a virus is present
