Unsuccessful Potty Training

Please Help! I have a 9 month old female Yorkie who I can not get potty trained. We acquired her at 4 months old. She was kept in a wire kennel (Outside) where she was allowed to poop and pee freely. We made the mistake of buying a large crate and started her out with a pad on one end and her bed on the other end. I am desperately trying to house break her now. I have tried EVERYTHING! She will not go outside...PERIOD! I have attempted to take her out right after she eats (staying out side from 20 min to 1 hr) and she will wait until I bring her in to go. We have attempted to take her out first thing in the morning, every 2 hrs during the day and at night before we go to bed...but I have never been able to get her to potty outside. She now walks outside with me, sits on the ground and looks up at me until I finally take her back inside. (I have even taken her poop from inside and placed it outside on the ground where I take her hoping she would recognize the scent and get the message!) I attempted putting her in a smaller crate inside, since dogs are usually "den' animals, but she poops and pees in that and then lays in it. She has now started pooping and peeing on my carpet when allowed out of the crate. I want desperately to leave her out of the crate when we are home, but as it stands right now, she can only be let out when we are able to keep eyes on her at all times. I would rather have her house broke completely, but realize that this may not be suitable since there are days that we are gone for long periods of time. I do not particularly like the pads but guess I could get use to them. How do I get this dog to stop pooing and peeing in her crate/bed and off my carpet? Can anyone help???

I know exactely what you are going through. I got my Yorkie little girl at 5 months in January and there was no way I would take her out to potty in ND weather, she was pad trained. Last spring I started taking her out with my older Chihuahua in the morning first thing and every 2/3 hours and she has learned we are out for potty. I don't really know what but my Chi goes right now fast but my Yorkie has to sniff every blade of grass before she will go.

I have a 4x4 wire pen I bought from Petco and a washable pad I got from EZWHELP.com and then I put the regular disposible pads in there. She sleeps in my bed so if I get up in the night I put her on the pad to go then we go back to bed, never had a mess.

I have been out mowing all afternoon and she does not mess, running loose all over, it may take time and patience but just hang in there. I love those little hairy Yorkie kisses. I get them every morning first thing.
