In your puppy in a crate all day while you are gone? If you isolate a dog or puppy in a crate for a large portion of the day while you are at work, he/she will literally go crazy when you come home in the evening and let him/her out. What would you do if you were shut in a small cage for 8 hours?

If you are crate training your puppy, do not leave him/her shut in the crate for more than 3 hours at a time. He/she may well choose to be in the crate for longer if the door is left open.

A small puppy has limited bladder control. If you leave him/her in the crate too long, you will be forcing him/her to soil his/her bed...where they may never become house-trained because eventually they won't care where they go.

Oh no. I don't leave her in a crate all day. I leave her in a an open area with a gate so she have the freedom to go anywhere she pleases. The door to her crate is always open and the crate has toys in there so she can go in to sleep or play if she wants. I also leave the pads out close to the front of the gate and farenough away from her crate and food that I leave out for her. I will never consider leaving her in a shut crate. I think that is cruel.
