I am so sorry to hear of your loss and read your post with tears in my eyes! I am so pleased that everybody has offered you such wonderful, practical advise on helping Maggie get over losing her best friend, and this is exactly the reason why I joined this forum. I hope that you, your partner and Maggie all starting healing soon.
Please check out this site and see what you think about this cure for kidney disease..............i ordered it in desperation when my darling min-pin was diagnoised with kidney failure last month. Unfortunately, it got here to me in India, the day after she passed away.

Do let me know what you think of the site. As i said, this was the last straw, but i didn't have the chance to give it a shot. i do hope you do.
Much love,
Binny
My heart goes out to you. A know how you must feel about leaving your second baby alone, but whenever you are back from your holiday, please think about another doggie to fill your life with love and laughter.
Have a safe and blessed holiday anniversary.
Newbie, I know this is late in responding, but just got in here today. I totally know what you're feeling.............we had to put our pomeranian, Buddy, down on May 26th and I was a complete MESS for weeks after. He was diabetic and his last few days, he was at the vets but was not responding to any treatment and they told me to come in to "say goodbye". Even now, as I type this, I get tears in my eyes. I now have his ashes in a tiny pine box and they gave me a piece of pink clay with his paw print on it. Sitting on top of my other dog George, a big "Heinz mix".
We have since got a new little girl in September, a pug, named Penny. We love her to bits! I hope you are coping okay. It's very hard.......
Thanks, the nights are bad, as she cuddled into me for the last 11 years. My Westie sleeps in bed with us, but she is not a cuddler! Am hpoing to get back a Boston Terrier to India when i go to California to drop my son to university in the fall. Ans another baby Westie, if my husband doen't kill me before that!
Binnyk, I am all for Holistic Medicine for dogs, but only under the care of a Holistic Practitioner. I wouldn't trust the adds on the internet, they are only there for the money. I learned this from experience.
Hello..I am so very sorry for the loss of your beloved Oscar. I had to have my beloved Leipshen put to sleep a short time ago. She was 14 yrs. Although my heart is filled with compassion for you and your husband, I must say that it is breaking for dear Maggie. Imagine what she must be feeling ..the confusion. I say this not to make you feel worse, however I have been told by those closest to me that I am a bit neurotic about my beloved dogs. I know it sound implausable...but I would focus on getting Maggie another dear friend before you go on your trip. Yes..I realize there is not much time, however, If you get a precious friend and introduce them immediatly, she may hesitate at first..then..she will warm up, they will become friends. this way Maggie will not have more heartache and confusion, lonley days while you are gone. The trip is too soon after her beloved friends death..she is in great mouring..as are you...This idea may brighten the entire scenario and put your hearts at rest while you are away
I am so sorry for your loss. It is never, ever easy to say goodbye to a pet, but when it is something so sudden, so unexpected it is horrible. I believe animals do mourn and I am not sure how to make it easier, other than giving them extra love and attention. May your memories of Oscar be of great comfort and joy to you once the pain of losing him eases.
