I have mixed feelings about pet insurance. I know it's been around for a long time, and in theory it should work for the benefit of the dog and the people who cannot afford their pets without insurance. I don't know about other Country's and I have no idea truly about the premiums or the coverage that pet insurance offers, but in the USA they can't keep Health Insurance at a reasonable cost for all people, and I feel this is the way eventually that Pet insurance will go. It will no longer be for the benefit of the dog and for those who cannot afford to have a pet without this assistance, but it will be for the pockets of those who are selling the Pet Insurance.

I have found that if you choose a good Vet, one who is passionate about what they do, his or her office will work with you regarding payments.

IF people cannot afford to spay or neuter their dog, they need to contact the humane society in their town and ask if they have a program that will do it for them at a low cost. I know here in Manitoba to get your pet spayed or neutered it costs upwards of 150.00. However, the shelter here has a clinic attached to it, so to speak, and for those who are low income can have it done for 26.00 regular price is $60.70.00 which is way more reasonable.

I'm just not sure that Pet Insurance is necessary when you have good vets who will work with people regarding services [especially if you have used them before]

Did you know that they also have Credit Card applications just for pet services too?

    just my 3 cents worth.

yes you are right Sarah but unfortunately those vets are also hard to find. I'm lucky to have found a very warm and understanding vet

for my dog. Unfortunately, not all dog owners have these types of people in their lives so for their dogs to be given the help that they

need in case of accidents and etc. dog insurance is an alternative.
