    Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

My 6 year old King Charles has always been a difficult feeder. Recently I have put him on pet shop dog meat (which I cook) together with a mixer. I did this because he just hates dog food.

However the result is that he is very constipated. I have read that he should be given bran to help. Is this true? Also, is there another natural remedy?

I give my dog a Digestive Enzyme in her food (twice daily). She has never had any digestive upsets. However, I do recommend you check with your Vet prior to giving or administering anything new to your dog.

You can also put some flax oil in your dogs food which will also aid in digestion like MaryAnn has said, she gives her dog a digestive aid. Make sure that the flax oil is Organic and cold pressed. I would give 1 teaspoon of oil in the food and see how that works. You can also check with your vet to see how much he would recommend to give to your dog.

Too much liver for your dog can be harmful......

While liver contains myriad nutritional components, a daily
diet of liver can cause diarrhea or vitamin A and D toxicity.

    Dear Jasper,
I too have a lovely little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel called Julie.

I feed Julie with 50% Protein Homecooked Red meat, ckicken without skin, turkey,Salmon,Cod,and hard boiled egg I take my pick for the morning meal from these.
    I add to this
25% WEIGHED BEFORE COOKING Brown rice,Oats.
    I add to this
25% STEAMED MIXED Veg mostly GREEN
I add to her morning bowl
Multi Vitamin for 2 weeks of the month for her coat
    1/2 teaspoonful of Omega3,6 oil

    Afternoon treat
Piece of peeled fresh apple after walk

    Evening meal

Same as morning meal only I give oats with the Fish or meat instead of the morning rice and o nly GREEN VEG in the evening with the Protein and Oats makes the meat move out faster for a good poof in the morning walk

    I add
    1/2 teaspoon of Omega3,6 oil
    1 teaspoon of Brewers yeast
    1 teaspoon of Apple Cider
This meal is given at 6 o clock in the evening
Last walk is at 8 o clock
On coming home the last piece of apple to clean her mouth and digeste her evening meal.
    Finished for the day.

Next morning 8 am walked toilet
    Returning home piece of apple
    Morning meal 10am

Works for Julie. ENJOYING HER LIFE.
