Tear stains
Hello,
I was having a problem with my shihtzu's tear staining on face and front feet. Then I purchased angel eyes and sprinkled it on his food daily for a month and it really worked well. It cleared up the tear stains. Since then, I heard from a friend who told me to use cramberries and plain yogurt - mix them together and feed a little bit to your dog every day. Has anyone ever heard of this?
Thank you,
April

I have heard that both yogurt and cranberries are very healthy for your dog
Just like in people they build up the immune system and help with urinary track infrections
I would make sense that they may help with this
I get a newsletter from a vet who doesn't recommend angel eyes
If I remember correctly he said that you were giving your dog a small dose of antibiotics on a daily basis

You can also use organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar. Just add a little bit to its drinking water, maybe a capful or less per bowl of water. This will also control eye stain.

In regards to Angel Eyes and antibiotics, this is directly off their web site:
Q: Are there any possible side effects related to Angels' Eyes®?
A: Angels' Eyes® is very safe in dogs and cats. There are no reports of toxicity with long term use and Angels' Eyes® is safe short term even if overdosed. Angels' Eyes® contains a macrolide antibiotic, Tylosin as Tartrate, which may cause falsely elevated values of AST and ALT when using color metric assay.
I was just at my local pet supply store and they mentioned that Angel Eyes is coming out with a new formula that does not have the antibiotic in it. Their web site doesn't say anything about it, but maybe it's something to watch for.
I'll stay with the apple cider vinegar.

Apple Cider vinegar is the safest and most natural way. Tylosin and tartrate is an anitibiotic in which is used to treat cows pigs, chickens and elephants. It's put in their water according to the research I did.

Even using small doses of any antibiotic could cause problem with antibiotics not being effective in the future when really needed .My friend swears by AC vinegar for arthritic dogs
She puts about a tablespoon in the water and the dogs stopped limping .

Apple cider vinegar or chemicals - no brainer
Even if the vinegar doesn't work it isn't going to hurt them

Hi,
Wish I would have known this when my White Persian was still with me. I just washed her eyes with water every morning to get the gunk out, I would not use anything that could possibly hurt her beautiful Amber eyes.
Thanks, I will remember that.

I had used AC vinegar as a tick/flea preventive as my dogs have sensitive skin. It did not seem to do anything for the tear stains for my bully. My vet recommended a steroid creme. Instead, I used Boudreaux Butt Paste for a couple of weeks. Figured since it works on diaper irritations it my work for my baby. And it did! The problem has cleared up and has not returned now for about two months!
