To Bullysmom: In reading your post it sounds like in your comment about AC vinegar that you were applying it externally to the skin. Is this right? My earlier post about AC vinegar is about taking it internally, not applying to the skin.

Goodness no! I was placing it in their water as was recommended. I tried it for a couple of months and then used the ointment. The AC vinegar just did not turn out to be the best treatment for my dog for the tear stains.

Boudreaux's Butt Paste can be found at www.buttpaste.com and is from a family pharmacy out of Covington, LA. It was originally created as a treatment for diaper and other rashes. The main ingredients are Zinc Oxide, Boric Acid, Castor Oil, Mineral Oil Paraffin, Peruvian Balsam, and Petrolatum. It is both soothing and a good sealant against wetness.

My vet recommended Angel Eyes to me for my toy schnauzers. Only Jazzy, my silver one, had the tear stain problem. She checked the ingredients and said there was nothing in Angel Eyes to harm the pet. I used it successfully for about 2 years and the stain was gone long before that. So I am a little confused. Perhaps I had the Angel Eyes where the antiobiotic was removed? I haven't a clue, but may try the AC vinegar in their water.
