Lhasa Apso



DESCRIPTION

The Lhasa Apso can easily be distinguished because of its silky and smooth fur. It's a small and lengthy breed of dog.

The Lhasa Apso has a pair of beautiful small, deep-set dark brown eyes and a furry pendant ears. Their feet are round, furry and cat-like.

They're actually considered as one of the oldest breeds of dogs. They revered and are considered sacred and a source of good luck for their masters.

A Lhasa Apso can span over 10 – 11 inches in height and can weigh about 13 – 15 pounds.

TEMPERAMENT

Lhasa Apsos are really loyal and very protective of their masters. They are wary of strangers but are very comical and very spirited at the same time.

This breed is great watchdogs because of their keen sense of hearing. They also have a tendency to be stubborn.

They're size makes them a bit difficult to housetrain.

HEALTH AND LONGEVITY

The Lhaso is considered to be a healthy breed but can be prone to eye injuries, skin problems, hip dysplasia, bleeding ulcers and kidney problems.

This breed can live for 15 years or more.

CARE REQUIRED

Although small, this breed is a bit difficult to groom because of its smooth and long fur. The Lhasa Apso needs to be bathed and brushed frequently.

Care should be given especially to the Lhasa Apso's eyes because of its tendency to tear.

Also, this breed should be taken for regular walks to help them loosen up.

SUITABILITY

The Lhasa Apso can do well without a yard and can live properly indoors. They're most compatible for people who are assertive and for those who have authoritative nature.

Although this breed can get along with children, it's suggested that you teach your children how to approach or treat the Lhasa Apso with respect.
