Hi Blackshadow. I personally do not have a Lab, but there are plenty of folks on my street who love these wonderful dogs, as well as close friends who have them. On our street alone, we have three black labs and two yellow labs. I have a schnauzer who gets along well with all of them. I enjoy seeing the black lab next door swimming in their backyard pool. Our close friend's takes their labs hunting. It is fun to watch these wonderful dogs in DockDiving Competitions, as well.

Hope you get to meet and chat with a lot of other Lab owners. Enjoy the Forum.

The owner of the pool where I take my dogs swimming has a 5 year old yellow lab
He is a great dock diver
I was recently at a competiton where he jumped over 22 feet, putting him in the Pro class
Hi best jump ever was 24 feet
He has done this without any training
His mom now intends to train him to see how far he can go
    He is an amazing dog

Mine would chew of his legs to get at the water. He is lucky, i live on the water, my own private beach so he spends alot of time playing/swimming every day. I've never heard of DockDiving Competitions, but i will be looking into it.

    Thanks,

There is a website dockdogs.com that lists all the competitions, including those in Canada
Ontario has a dockdogs organization, but I'm not sure about Nova Scotia
It has spread all over the world and is popular as far away as Australia
The lab mentioned above will be competing again on August 21-21 in Bradford, Ontario
My Rottie will also be competing, but Rotties will never jump close to 20 feet because of their weight
My guy loves dockdiving and Rotties are not water dogs
I'm sure your guy would love it

Here is another website, in addition to the one Gail mentioned above, regarding Dock Diving.... Parade.com/fido fly

This website came in an article in the Parade Magazine that comes with our Sunday newspaper.

You could also contact the AKC (American Kennel Club) or the CKC (Canadain Kennel Club) for more info.

A great way to enjoy and bond with your dog. Have Fun!!!!!
