Hi everyone. What a great site.
I live in Singapore and have grown up with dogs most of my life. Our first dog when I was old enough to remember was Bingo - was a Singapore special i.e. mongrel. Very affectionate and loyal. Since Bingo, we've had many dogs over the last 40 years.
3 cross breeds, a german sherpherd, a dashound, a dalmation and a rottie. All great dogs who have now passed on. Currently we have a yellow lab and a terrier cross breed and my moms place.
I moved out of there many years ago and started my own family. Now with the kids a little older 8 and 6 years old, it is time to get our own fur kid. I think it's important for kids to grow up with a pet and learn some basic responsibility. Their responsibility now is to make sure that the water has fresh water twice a day everyday. All other aspects are handled by me as they are still young.
For the last 3 months I was reading up and researching various breeds to consider. I bought an encyclopedia of dogs and the page I flipped to randomly had a picture of a Westie. Love at first sight.
I spend hours reading up about the breed on-line. I went around looking at breeders but to be honest there aren't many in Singapore. Most of the pups here are imported from Australia and cost a small fortune. A Westie puppy sells for USD 2-4K easily.
Last week by luck I found a local breeder who had a litter. One 1 female remaining. I went to have a look and she's such a sweetie. Playful and very curious.
In short we bought her but will only collect this Sunday as she has her 3rd vaccination due today.
Look forward to learning from everyones experience on this forum.
