It depends on how long your dog has had the ear mites. If it's been a while, I strongly suggest you take him to the vet and get the ointment for fast relief.

To prevent your dog from getting them again, clean his ears with a dilution of 1 part white vinegar and 2 parts water. Wash his ears out with the solution and a cotton ball.
