Me and cody, my 4 year old Cairn Terrier, nickname, "big blonde"

Hi Everyone, I have a question about my Cairn terrier, very often at night, he likes to get on the sheets and just lick and lick for about an hour, why does he do this? Many people have told me that Cairns are the quirkiest dogs but I find this behavior strange, when he does it to me, it means he has to go outisde and I take him no matter the time of day or night, but the sheets is weird, any one have any thoughts? cody's Mom

    Hello athenailium!

That's one cute dog you have! My dog Fafner also does that sometimes but
I really don't see anything wrong with that.

But that is a good question, I think one of the reason they do is because they smell
something good on those sheets maybe some bits and pieces from some of the food
    we ate or something.

Are you sure that he is licking the sheets and not his paws?

Because if he is licking his paws too much then I suggest that you check the vet since
    it may be allergies.

If you want the behavior to stop you can just tell him NO! or STOP when he does start
licking just continue to be consistent and patient and I'm sure that he will get the message.
