Leon and Loyce just signed on to this Forum. We are also members of two Roadtrek Class "B" Motorhome forums andwe live in Lakeland, Florida. We are not dog owners, yet. Loyce is dying for a female Yorkie and I am beginning to feel the same way. The problem we have is that the $1000 tickets are over our budget. After all we have a motorhome to feed. We have found a lot of Yorkies for $300 and even less, but all of them have been out of state. I stood in line in the hot sun for three and a half hours this morning at the Polk County Animal Control for a chance at a Yorkie. When I finally got in there were Golden mixes left. Too Big.... We aren't looking for a show dog, just a little companion with attitude that loves to cuddle.

    Hi Leon and Loyce,

How well I know the feeling of wanting a little Yorkie. I have two little girls, one 2 year old, 2.5 pounds and then my baby that is 7 months (Heidi) and she will be larger than Mika. I will not have a puppy shipped and I was lucky enough to find these both close enough within 100 miles so I could drive and see where they were raised. To me that is very important with all the horror stories you hear. I live in ND and here and in Mn and SD the price for a registered Yorkie is around $600/$700. Yes there are places that are asking $1300/$1600 and up but for me I just wanted a little snuggler to, I don't plan on showing or breeding.

Good luck to you, I hope you find one or two because you both will want to hold him/her all the time. They are snugglers and want to be with you all the time, they sleep under the covers with you. They are Terriers though so they also have their wild side. When my two get going, stand back, it is so cute and also so funny, they are so much fun.

    Hope you find one soon.

    Hi Folks
Last summer my oldest boy came home with a Yorkie-poo and things have not been the same since. Lots of fun and love. She turned 1 this month. The big let down will be when he moves out and takes her with him. But for now everything is wonderful. I am sure that you will enjoy your new friend when she of he arrives. Ellie is nine pounds and loves to cuddle and watch TV on my lap.

    Hi Tim,

Before your son moves , I would check the adoption and the rescue places in your area, you are going to feel so alone after your son moves and keep thinking Ellie is there somewhere. I am thinking Ellie would welcome a little buddy for now too till she has to move, sound like she is loving your lap. There are great puppies/ dogs to be found that people get as cute puppies and then they grow up and the humans suddenly don't have time for them.

Good Luck to you Tim and I hope you find a little buddy.

Hi Leon/Loyuce, you can always check online Kijiji Here's the link for you Lakeland Classifieds - Free Classifieds Ads for Lakeland, Florida at eBay Classifieds (Kijiji).

You may either get a Yorkie Mix, or a purebred Yorkie, or perhaps another small breed. You may also want to check the "free" section which is full of dogs and cats. Don't know if there are any yorkies or not.

    Thanks Mia
He is only moving 3 miles away and is in an apartment.. looking for some joint custody. However I did say at some time to my wife that we might have to go shopping for a new puppy. They are very addictive, much more fun than work.
