I have a seven year old Yorkie and would like to know if I can change her diet to BARF?She seems to have developed an allergy and I'm thinking perhaps a wheat or yeast allergy. Can someone help me with my decision?

Hi knitter,
What are you feeding her now and what are the symtoms? That is so frustrating when you don't know what to do. Believe me, been there! My baby Yorkie was just about bald on her head when I got her, I put her on Blue Buffalo and she is beautiful now. My two Chi sisters were having bloody mucus stools when I got them, switched them also and they are so great and healthy. I truly believe a lot of our pets problems come from the foods that are out there.
Sorry I don't know anything about BARF, heard of it but maybe someone will come on here and give you some advice on that. Good Luck.
Keep us posted.

Oh, One more thing if you switch, do it very slowly. Just add a bit of the new food over a period of a couple of weeks just adding a bit at each feeding.

Yes, definitely right Mia..do not expose your dog to new dog food all at once the process must be slow and gradual.
Thank you Mia,I actually have been feeding her GO and just recently switched to Blue Buffalo but she is not pleased.
Hi,
I am not familar with GO, but I can tell you that the Blue sure worked for me on my 3 puppies and also my daughters rescue Chi that was almost totally bald all over, she had very little hair when she got her and skinny. Now she has gained some weight and has a beautiful coat. Actually my other daughter switched her 2 Yorkies to the Blue also, she was here last week and their coats are absolutely beautiful. I buy the green bag, Lamb and brown rice. They have a new one in a pink bag now for small breed, that is Chicken I think. I will need some soon so I will check when I get to Petsmart.
Good luck to you and it may take patience and time but in the long run I think your Yorkie will benefit.
Mia
It will take time for your litte girl to accept the change
I wouldn't start the dog on barf without first consulting your VET. The reason being is that all things are not what all dogs need. Your vet if he is qualified can provide you with a nutritionist who will tell you what your dog needs and how much.
Just my 3 cents
