Hi and welcome everyone!

This is Sharda bringing you another dog obedience training newsletter!

Sharing your life with a dog, whether it is a puppy or an adult dog can certainly be exciting and rewarding.

One of the critical elements involved in making sure that your relationship with your dog is all that it should be is ensuring that you give your him dog obedience training.

An important part of dog obedience training is making sure that you socialize your dog.

So, today as you may have already guessed we will be talking about one of the important elements of dog obedience training which is the IMPORTANCE of socializing our furry little buddies.

Let's start!

DOG OBEDIENCE TRAINING AND SOCIALIZING DOGS

A dog that is not properly socialized may be more prone to bite as well, so it is important to make sure that puppies are socialized well from the beginning.

For older dogs who have not received proper dog socialization or dog training, it is important to begin working with them.

The best time to socialize your dog is when he is between the AGES OF EIGHT AND SIXTEEN WEEKS.

This is a critical period because your dog is growing and maturing at a very rapid rate during this time period. If your dog does not receive any exposure and dog training during this time period, the result will be a dog that is fearful and/or aggressive.

While the best time in socializing dogs are in between the critical ages of eight and sixteen weeks, that is not to say that you cannot socialize an adult dog as well.

It may take longer and you will need to exercise large amounts of patience, but IT CAN BE DONE.

Good quality dog training resources can also help to guide you in training an adult dog as well as puppies.

When socializing dogs or in dog obedience training, it is important to make sure that you are always in the right frame of mind. This can help you to avoid a number of problems, including actions that might actually make the dog training process even longer.

It is important to keep in mind that everything that you do will be seen by your dog as either positive or negative.

The first rule that should be kept in mind when working with your dog is that you must be CONSISTENT (yes, I know I keep repeating this but this is really an important principle in dog obedience training). There MUST NOT be any exceptions to this rule if you want your dog to be trained as easily and quickly as possible.

Your actions as well as what you say to your dog must always be consistent.

Consistency must also be provided when using praise or reward for the actions that you want your dog to exhibit.

If you are working with your dog to teach him to sit, you must make sure that he completely carries out the desired action before you provide praise or a reward. If you allow your dog to get away with only half-way performing an action and giving him a reward for that, then he will begin to think that it is okay to not fully complete the requested action.

This will delay the dog obedience training process and make it much more difficult. In addition, make an attempt to work with your dog at the same time and each day. This should be thought of as training or class time for your child.

Developing a consistent dog training schedule for your dog will make the dog behavior training process much easier. This time should be considered as dog training time and should not be confused with play time.

Of course, you should definitely set aside time for play as well, but it should not be during training time.

This will help both you and your dog to establish an attitude toward dog training that is consistent and positive.

So remember, dog socialization can also affect your dog's behavior and personality for the better.

Keep in mind that dog socialization isn't only limited for puppies but for adult dogs as well.

I hope you learned a lot from this newsletter.

Thanks for listening!

All the best and take care

Warmly,
