Seizure
I have a 6 year old Yorki that has started to have seizures. She begins to tremble and she cant control her back legs it only last for a few minutes and then she seems fine.I have taken her to my vet and they ran every test they could and they all came back negative. The only thing they didnt do was a MRI the vet didnt think it was necessary because the test were all normal. The vet said it epilepsy and the treatment is really bad for her so its best to do nothing unless she begens to have cluster of them or they last more than 5 min. Money is not a problem I whould spend my life savings to help her, she is the most important thing in my life. Does anyone have any Does anyone have any suggestions am afraid to leave her alone

I have a three year old female Yorkie with the same problem I think. She loses her balance it only last maybe two minutes then she is fine. If you were not looking at her you would miss it. My vet has put her on 1/4 piece of Phenobarbatol hope I spelled this correctly morning and night. It has only been three days so I am not sure how it is going to work. I hope to find a vet that specializes in this kind of problem and have her checked out more throughly.

Yorkielover2,
My yorkie is a female also her name is Jesabel and she is the love of my life. my Yorkies seizurese sound a like like yours. she has had maybe four in the last couple of years. My husband thought I was crazy because they did last long enough for him to notice anything wrong until she had one in front of him. I worry about how many she has when im not with her. My vet said the Phenobabatol and other meds are hard on the liver thats why I have not started her on any meds yet.I hope you find a specialist. I have been looking here in St Louis MO. If anyone knows a specialist in this area please let me know.
Thank you

My 5 pound poodle also has occasional seizures. This time it was 17 days after we applied Frontline. We hadn't applied Frontline for over a year, and no seizures during that year, but had seizures previously when using Frontline. I believe we have narrowed it down to some sort of an allergy to Frontline.

RoseAnn I would like to suggest you seek out an acupuncturist for treatment for your dog.
When a dog or human have seizures it's a neurological problem somewhere [unless it's allergies] The Acupuncturist will be able to relax the nerves throughout the body.
RossCarol, that's a huge discovery.
I don't know if anyone is in an area where they have to give their dog heart worm treatments. Here in Canada we do it seasonally, [at least in Manitoba] our winters are so cold that dogs do not need it year round. Anyway, my vet gave me heart worm medicine [prevention] that also took care of fleas and ticks. You may want to ask your Vet about that for your dogs.
just my 3 cents

I know someone who's dog had seizures that were caused by the normal dog vaccinations
Did any of the seizures start after vaccinations?

RossCarol you are another one who has reported seizures after applying Frontline, we have a friend that the same thing happened to. I would never use that on my dogs.

What will you do if your dog is having seizure? What is the management for it?
