OK, so we are coming to the end of our saga. Turns out this parasite is very rare. The breeders vet and my vet had to call friends at university vet centers for advice. All agreed, it is possible this dog could have long term troubles and, worse, could be contagious to dogs and people for quite some time. Spoke with the breeder and he says that they will refund the money. He asked if he could do it in installments since money is tight. I agreed (did I really have a choice?) and he said it would be paid off over the next two months. Wish me luck!
PS If anyone can recommend a cavalier king charles breeder (who is not a scam) please tell me.
Thanks again for listening!!

I'm glad you finally got some answers as to a diagnosis. I always say follow your heart. You've already paid for the puppy, the breeder made it clear that he/she was not going to reimburse the money. This puppy is already loved, and with your vet and I would even consider finding a Holistic Vet in this particular case to gain the knowledge and have access to as much treatment as possible. But that's what I would do. The ultimate decision is surely only yours to make.
I would urge you to do a research on the net for this type of parasite, and see what kind of information is out there, and what hope you have. If you opt out from bringing this puppy home, I would certainly write it off as a loss, and not purchase anything else from this so called breeder.

springer....Please check with the AKC (American Kennel Club) for a list of reputable Cavalier King Charles Breeder.
I know of one of the top Miniature Schnauzer breeders in the U.S., but unfortunately do not know any Cavalier King Charles breeders, but the AKC can help you locate one.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the I spoke with the breeder and he has offered us a full refund, as things did not work out at all. Wish me luck that the money actually makes it here. Thanks to all for your help!
One last question (which I may post under puppy section) I have a 6yrold springer female. A friend of ours put us in touch with a cavalier breeder that has a female pup available. I have recently read that getting second female dog may be asking for trouble and that you should only add a male to avoid trouble. Any thoughts?

MYTH...Two females - if trained properly - can get along fine with each other. I answered in more detail in your other thread.
Please...do not rush into anything without thouroughly checking it out first.

ANYTIME YOU BUY FROM A BREEDER ITS BEST TO GO THERE SEE WHAT KIND OF ENVIRONMENT THE DOG LIVES IN AND ALSO ITS VERY IMPORTANT TO SEE BOTH PARENTS ON PREMISES.good luck/yvonne

You better rush the pup to the vet and tell the breeder about the pup's condition. How is the pup doing now?
