Re Lady now we know why ....

I have dropped by to say a big Thankyou for your replies.
I wanted to let you all know about my little Lady.
We have taken her to the vet because we have been really worried about her these past few weeks. We thought it may have been the heat getting to her.So we tried to keep her cool with fans and got her to drink water..
I had checked out all the usual things like dehydration, her ears eyes anal glands , no diareah she was retching ,but nothing to bring up..etc. Lady was not drinking in excess either.

It started about 6 to 8 weeks ago. She has been even more picky with her food, what she ate and enjoyed one day she would turn her nose up another day. She had hardly eaten a thing since Friday
She is more loving than usual and she does love hugs and cuddles at any time .But she was everywhere I turned under my feet all the time. Even sitting by my feet when I am in the bathroom..(She is brave)
Well that with ruffling all her bedding and looking so depressed .Thats the only way I can explain it really .
She was kissing ,licking and loving her toys.

We do spoil her, so we only have ourselves to blame. She is our baby ,we are allowed to spoil her.lol

She is having a phantom pregnancy . We kept saying to her she had a fat tummy and noticed some nipples getting bigger. But thought that was part of her getting older. Bless her .Her hormones are all upset.

The vet has given us some medicine for her .
We also discussed mating her next time she has her season . But the vet told us that the dog we found is going to be to large for her. So it is back to the drawing board .
We have talked about this and have decided that if we cannot mate her for her next season .We will have to have her Spayed.
No way will we let her go through what she is now ..Bless her to go through all the motions and nothing to show for it...

I do not know why I did'nt think of this before . Considering it had happened to a dog(bitch) I had many years ago .
Hopefully she will start to feel better soon now she has medicine.

Spoiling is a good thing as long as Lady continues to listen to you, which is for her own safety. Even dogs that are spayed dig and fluff up their covers. This activity is just something dogs do.

Thanks for letting us know about the phantom pregnancy, but I have to say I'm a lot more cautious about giving my dog or cat pharmaceuticals. I would have let her just go through it, but that's me.

So sorry for not replying to posts before now.

but I have to say I'm a lot more cautious about giving my dog or cat pharmaceuticals.

I do agree with you on this Sarah.I only use such things if absolutely needed.

yes Thankyou Lady was fine afterwards .

She has had another season since and was the same as before but was not lactating.

She was very clean all the time and he loved her toys and kept them close snuggled to her and licked them.
