    Heavy panting

My 2 year old Mini Schnauzer has episodes of heavy panting for no reason, often in the middle of the night. She also has days where she wants to hide under the table instead of being her playful self and refuses to eat. She often just doesn't act like she feels good. She has had hyperlipidemia, but with diet changes her cholesterol and triglycerides are normal. She also has a little OCD habit of sucking at her flanks. Could all these be connected somehow? She has seen 3 vets, no one has a clue. Anyone have a problem like this?

Usually with heavy panting I would link that with heart problems. It sounds as if she could benefit from either accupuncture or accupressure to relieve her from her anxiety. If all the physical exams are negative for any disease, I would say this dog suffers with 'anxiety issues".

It may behoove you to look for a holistic vet and have her examined again.. Make sure you tell the vet all the things that the other Vets have found wrong. Is she on any kind of medication for anything? This too can have an affect on her...
