My dog vomited yesterday after being what we thought was healthy, today when he was taken outdoors he quickly laid down and never moved again.he is gone. can anyone tell me what might have caused this?

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I think only a vet could really tell you what caused this to happen, there are many common things that can be poison to dogs and age, size, breed etc can be factors. It would be unusual for your dog not to display other symptoms of distress besides vomiting when suffering from a fatal illness. Certain plants, rodent poison, tainted dog food, Xylitol could all be suspect. Can you think of any other symptoms?

Oh my! I'm very sorry for your loss. How is was your dog? Did he have any parvo shots?

The only thing I can think of that have caused this is the Parvo virus scottie, this is a really fast acting virus
and can kill a puppy or a dog within 24 hours.

It may have been bloat. if he had no other signs of illness until the vomiting . In bloat the stomach flips and twists . When he swolllows saliva
it has no where to go and the vomit is the saliva. It is a medical emergency requiring surgery . It aso couldbe poison . A Vet can do a necropsy
(dog autopsy ) to determine Parvo has bloody stools , depression and vomiting . It can kill quicky but usually has all three signs
