Unhappy sfrisco56 - My new Teacup Yorkie

I've just bought a new tea cup Yorkie . He weighed one pound when I received him and I was told he would not grow over over two pounds. I was told by my breeder to give him Nutrical everyday. So I did by the instructions on the tube. This morning I found him all listless and stumbling around. I wondered why he never woke me up this morning yapping like he always does. So I called her and she said to give him a bid glob of it that it sounded like low blood sugar. Well, I did and after a while he was better. But I don't think this is normal for a Yorkie. He must have been born with it and I feel like she was not truthful with me. I thought she just thought I should give him a little vitamin every day. Now I find out he could die if he does not get this everyday. She says to feed him Ceasar. The dog store says that's the worst food to feed him. She says to wash him with Dawn liquid for fleas, but never said it could ruin his skin and to only use it about every three months. Does anyone know how a teacup yorkie this tiny should be taken care of? I've sent off for a book, but it will take a while to get here.

Oh this breaks my heart to hear about your tiny Yorkie, I have a 2.5 little girl Yorkie and she is doing so well on the food I have her on. But I also have two Chi's that were having bloody stools when I got them from AZ, I don't know if it was the stress of the 2 days on the road away from their pack or what but after my Vet and I could not remedy it I went to Blue Buffalo Food and they are happy, healthy little girls now. I gave my babies Nutrical also if they were lethargic with a bit of honey.

Do You take your little guy to bed with you? They are great snugglers and love to be with you. I would NEVER give my Yorkie a bath with Dawn. Go to PETSMART OR PETCO OR ONLINE and get a good approved puppy bath product.

    Good Luck, Keep us posted

That's really sad, news like this simply shatters my heart, this is why I certainly against dishonest breeders whose aim is to simply make a sale.

Have you consulted with a vet yet sfrisco56?

I really hope that you Yorkie can grow up normal and happy.

I am so sorry that you have to go through this. I suggest you have a long conversation with your Vet and have them advise you on how to care for your beautiful puppy from here on out.

What is the "Nutrical"????? I am not familiar with that.

How old is your darling little one?

MaryAnn, Nutrical is a high calorie suppliment that comes in a tube from Petsmart or Petco. It really works well. My little Chi's were so lethargic when they were having that mucous stool problem and it works fast to give them energy and today they are so happy and healthy. Now on the new food Blue (from Eukanuba) they are just bouncy, happy little girls, they are sisters and inseparable.

I don't have a tube of it now but if you do a Google search you can find out.

Remember...what is good for one dog may not be good for another.

Always check with your Vet before giving anything new or different to your dog.

Also...be sure to always read the list of ingredients, as so many manufacturers are adding sugar as one of their ingredients....AND we all what sugar does to anyone.

I agree with you both, I checked with my Vet and also the breeder and they agreed it would be good to give them the Nutrical with a bit of honey to boost their blood sugar. My Sister drove them up from AZ so they had a 2 day long car trip and were probably stressed, Now I have not given them any Nutrical for so long and they don't need it, I don't even have any now. They are so full of energy. It was only when they were so listless that they got it and I am so happy that those days are over.

Always check with your Vet before you give anything to your babies.
