Those of you you fed Science Diet should be careful what they say. I feed SCIENCE DIET NATURE'S BEST ORGANIC....If you read the ingredients is has all natural ingredients...Premium Lamb, Egg, Brown Rice, Oats and Barley, Carrots, Peas, and Broccoli, Apples and Cranberries, Soybean Oil, and packed full of Vitamins E & C.

It maintains ideal body weight, lean muscle and avoids excess body fat. Also, packed full of Antioxidants to maintain cellular health because they fight free radicals. My dog is very healthy.

I agree however, that the regular Science Diet is probably not good, but the Organic IS. SO....Please choose your words more carefully when talking about Science diet.

The rawhide part would scare me cause they can block the intestines and will not dissolve.lamb ears are safer.

I'm using the Wellness brand, which is what the breeder sent with the puppy. He doesn't seem to have a big appetite. Sometimes I have to put some in my hand, which he'll eat, and then he'll eat a bit. Not sure if I should change the food or leave it. I give him a half a baby carrot as a treat and he loves it. Sometimes I'll chop up a little carrot to throw into his food to make it more appealing.

My 10 year old Schipperke has Pancreas problems and has to be on a low fat diet so I found that Natural Balance Reduced Calorie formula works the best for her although it took awhile for her to get used to it. I was feeding her a dental diet dog food from the vet which was actually prescribed for my Dalmatian but she had to eat what he was eating and it was wonderful for her teeth, the bigger dog food kept her teeth very clean!

I have a wonderful 10 year old female westie, and after my Honey died, i did a complete blood report for Sasha. We have found her liver enzymes to be slightly elevated. Ans another thing i NEVER knew about Westies, some of them cannot excrete the copper from their livers...so, I have started her on a total home cooked diet of chicken, rice and carrots at 10am and a hig bowl of chicken stock and parsley water at abot 2pm (the parsley is really to flush the kidneys, as after my min-pin Honey suddenly passed away with renal failure, i have become paranoid about Sasha), and then for dinnr at 7pm: beef with lots and lots of organic veggies and a spoonful of naturally set yogurt.
Is this a good diet for a westie of this age?
And can you tell me anything about the copper accumulation that happens to westies more than any other breed?
Is there some natural food to flush the liver?

I also feed my American Cocker Spaniel Innova Evo. I quickly chnaged him from Science Diet when I realised how bad this was. Evo is definitely the best I have found and believe me I did a lot of research and comparing of brands. It is so important that you read the ingredients as so many are just made from fillers and grains.
