Any thoughts on brands: Natural Balance and Evolution?

    Hello

Currently my dogs are on Natural Balance Limited Ingredients Kibble (Venison/ sweet potato flavor) and I'm wondering how this food rates. I've never seen it in any of Sharda's reviews. Also I have been reading about a brand called Evolution which is supposed to be incredibly healthy for dogs and made all cruelty free (uses no animal protein, just veggie/ plant based proteins.)

    Thanks!

I heard from Sharda today, she said she will check it out and respond to you here in the forum . Be patient, because she is real busy finding the best information about a lot of topics for her newsletter, and the forum.

    Thanks

    Hello zyas.

I have heard of Natural Balance Limited Ingredients before and it looks good. Most of their brand of dog food
are grain free except for two Lamb Meal and Brown Rice formulas that they have.

It is recommended by most people zyas.

As for Evolution though zyas, it's not looking that good unfortunately, there are too
many red flags in this certain dog food. Ingredients such as corn gluten meal, garlic,
tomato pomace, Dried molasses and menadione (which is linked to lover toxicity..yikes!)
so I DO NOT recommend Evolution dog food zyas.

Seeing that this dog food contains menadione, I will really need to make a newsletter
    about this one.

Thank you very much for taking the time to ask about this zyas and for Sarah for sending
    me an email about this.

    Thank you both.

Now, I have to go back to the checking my emails..

I feed Natural Balance, LID fish and sweet potato. I have 5 dogs on it, and all 5 are doing fantastic (though my littlest one needs to be fed more than when she was on Acana). I like how the protein is at 22% which is what raw meat is at, and I like the 10% fat as well. most grain-free foods have very high protein levels, and are also quite high in fat. I have 3 dogs that're getting up there in age and dont need the high energy levels.

I hesitate to feed anything to dogs that doesn't have animal protein in it. Dogs are not vegitarians, and should not suffer because we would like them to be. They cannot digest plant proteins nearly as well as animal proteins, and the high level of grains in vegitarian foods causes obesity

Dog Food Reviews | Dog Food Ratings is a site I've come across that has been very helpful. Thought I was saving all the material from Sharda but my computer skills are limited. I thought I was using premium dog food but according to this site it was 3 star (out of 5). I've changed to what seems to be a better dog food. Good luck. Jim
