Hi and welcome everyone!

This is Sharda with a healthy pet food newsletter update for you today.

As promised, today I will be giving you a list of the latest pet food recalls as of the year 2011 but before that I hope you don’t mind me telling you more about these pet food recalls and how they actually work. You see, there are more to pet food recalls that you may not know about.

I think I’ve mentioned about the biggest pet food recall year which was on year 2007 right?

Well, we will be starting from there so hold into your seats and let’s start talking about pet food recalls!

HEALTHY PET FOOD UPDATE – PET FOOD RECALLS

But before we delve deeper into this what are RECALLS?

Well, recalls are actually actions taken by a firm to remove a product from the market. Recalls may be conducted on a firm's own initiative, by FDA request, or by FDA order under statutory authority.

But the thing about pet food recalls is that once a dog food brand DOES get recalled after a few months or a year if that certain dog food brand does pass the test that the FDA provides them these dog food brands will continue to be allowed back into the market.

I just thought that I should mention this because I believe that a LOT of dog owners think that once a dog food brand gets recalled it’s the end of it.

So, now that’s out of the way let’s continue…

As I have mentioned before the biggest pet food scandal happened in the year 2007 where a LOT of dog food products that we thought WAS healthy was recalled from markets and pet stores everywhere.

This was really a very shocking year for a lot of dog owners because the healthy dog food that they trusted was actually BAD for their beloved dogs.

The pet food recalls on this year was really a wake-up call for the dog food brand companies. The thing is there were still dog food brand companies that really didn’t listen and the outcome was that they never got back into the market.

Some of the famous dog food brands and treats that were recalled on the year 2007 were;

* Alpo
* Americas Choice
* Diamond
* Eukanuba
* Great Choice
* Iams
* Kirkland
* Nutro Max

There were actually a whole lot more but the pet food that were recalled before is not as important as the pet food recalled list that I will be giving you today.

As you can see, most of the dog food brands that I gave you came back to stores and pet shops because they passed the testing that the FDA provided. That being said, just because they passed the testing does make them safe for our dog’s consumption but safe is not always equivalent to the healthy pet food choice does it?

The pet food recall in the year 2007 was not only a wake-up call for dog food companies though but for all dog owners around the world as well.

So, I think I babbled on too much about the 2007 pet food recall, so here’s an UPDATED LIST of the PET FOODS and TREATS that were recalled as of March 2011;

* Nature's Variety
* Kroger Value Dog Food
* Old Yeller Dog Food
* Texas Taffy Pet Treat
* Texas Hold'ems Dog Treat
* Jones Natural Chews Co
* Merrick

But you know what you too can help other dog owner by filing a complaint on certain dog food brands or dog treats that you think should be checked.

Some of the things you should look out for are Foul odor, off color, Swollen can or pouch, leaking container and Foreign object found in the product. You can learn more about this by visiting the FDA website.

So, be informed and buy smart!

I really hope that you learned a lot from today’s healthy pet food newsletter update.

All the best and take care

Warmly,
