DESCRIPTION

The Dalmatian is a large strong energetic breed. They're muscular dogs that are known for their white coat and black or liver spots.

This breed's name is actually derived from their roots which is Dalmatia which is a region of Croatia where they're referred to as Dalmatinac or Dalmatiner.

They can span over 22 – 24 inches and can weigh about 55 pounds.

TEMPERAMENT

The Dalmatians are loyal and energetic. They're also dedicated, happy and playful. Dalmatians are good with children and other pets.

They're very energetic and will need an owner with strong leadership. This breed, unlike other dog breeds, dislikes staying still or lazing around. They would prefer playing, going on walks or jogs.

This breed can be quite difficult to handle if not given enough exercise.

HEALTH AND LONGEVITY

Deafness is really a big problem for Dalmatians. They're also prone to skin allergies and urinary stones.

They can live for about 10 – 12 years.

CARE REQUIRED

This breed is easy to groom they're said to be odorless but is quite a shedder. They shed all year round but they shed profusely twice a year.

This breed will need an owner that can take them out for frequent walks or jogs.

SUITABILITY

This breed isn't recommended for apartment life. It's suggested that this breed be given a medium sized yard that they can run or play in. They're quite active indoors and don't quite do well in cold weather.

This breed will need to be led by a strong leader and is quite difficult to handle without proper exercise.

So, this breed isn't recommended for those who doesn't have the time and capability to give this breed enough exercise.
