DESCRIPTION
Originating in Britain, the Airedale Terriers, also known as the Waterside Terrier, are the largest of the Terrier breed.
They're medium sized dogs that have double coats with hard, dense, wiry outer hairs over a soft undercoat.
They can span about 22 – 24 inches and can weigh about 50-65 pounds.
TEMPERAMENT
Airedale Terriers is a reliable and protective breed. They're loving, affectionate, very courageous and can be great with kids especially when socialized as a puppy.
HEALTH AND LONGEVITY
Although this breed is quite healthy; they may be prone to eye problems, hip dysplasia and skin infections.
They can live for about 10 – 12 years.
CARE REQUIRED
If you're not raising this breed to be a show dog then grooming them shouldn't be much of a problem. It's suggested that their coat should be plucked at least two times a year.
But if you're planning on raising them to be a show dog then the grooming process can be intricate.
This breed is quite active which is why they will need to be taken out for long walks daily.
SUITABILITY
This breed is not suitable for apartment life but can do well indoors provided that they get enough exercise.
They're good with children but care should be given to other household pets because of this breed's hunting instincts.
