DESCRIPTION
The Afghan Hound is a tall and slender dog that is described as a 'king of dogs'. They're known for their thick, fine, silky coat and their tail ring curl at the end.
They can span over 27-29 inches and can weigh about 58-64 lbs.
TEMPERAMENT
The Afghan Hound is a courageous, loyal, spirited and affectionate companion. Training should be gentle and clam when dealing with this breed as it does not respond to harsh treatment.
HEALTH AND LONGEVITY
Although they're quite healthy, this breed is prone to allergies and cancer.
They can live for about 14 years.
CARE REQUIRED
This breed's long silky fur will need a lot of attention. It needs to be brushed regularly to maintain the silkiness of their fur.
The Afghan Hound also needs to be taken out for daily long walks or jogs to keep them healthy and calm.
They're average shedders.
SUITABILITY
Although this breed is inactive indoors, an apartment life isn't recommended for this breed. They're good with both the elderly and the children.
